A Flicker in the Dark
The enemy is trying to wear you out. Trying to wear you down to the bone, to your breaking point, when you think you can’t keep going, until you lie down in the dirt and give up, he will not stop.

The flame flickers slightly struggling to burn as the air around the flame blows—the flame appears to go out affected by the disruption but eventually recovers flickering weakly back to life. The cycle repeats over and over the flame brighter at times and other times struggling to stay lit. But it never goes out permanently—it may die out for days at a time, the dark consuming it, a breeze continuously drifting in to keep the flame out, but in the end the darkness is pushed back making room for the flame to slowly flicker back to life. The wind will only weaken it for a time, but it will always come back and burn no matter the cost.
The life of a believer is like this, struggle after struggle—the Lord’s help is the only reason we flicker back to life after each sorrow and suffering, and perhaps our light comes back stronger each time.
The enemy is trying to wear you out—trying to wear you down to the bone, to your breaking point, till you think you can’t keep going, until you lie down in the dirt and give up he will not stop.
He wouldn’t try to break us down if there was no resistance, if there was no fight left. If a light wasn’t shining in the dark he wouldn’t be trying to smother it. The pain is proof that you are powerful—you have power in Jesus Christ. The power that comes with walking with our Father in heaven and having Jesus as our savior—why else would you be targeted and beaten down by Satan? Satan rewards those that do evil for him, those who are powerless and led astray he does not bother with as they are already lost souls—he targets us for a reason. He cannot tear down a tower that has already crumbled, but he sees a firm foundation when he sees a believer and tries to find a weak spot so that you will come crashing down.
The tribulation period is similar to a wounded soldier before a battle who knows he will lose—we know we will be overcome by the antichrist and be given up to be killed, but regardless, we should not go down without a fight for the Lord—fight hard as it is our final battle before we receive the crown of life. Though this life may seem like unending suffering, and sorrow, it will eventually end. Jesus said not to be troubled for all of these things must come to pass—and right now they are coming quick.
Satan plants false ideas in your mind to question God and his character which shows that he is afraid of God and the power you possess when you have a strong relationship with him. Satan’s main goal is to ensure you don’t have a relationship with the creator as this is the only way we will avoid being deceived in the coming days. I have wondered about the elites always bashing our God alone, mocking him and his name alone and how that isn’t just letting everyone know that they are threatened by only our God, because they know he is the true God. Why else would they mock him alone—they never use another god’s name as a curse because they know our God is alive and powerful. Our God is worth fighting for on the bad days, when you’re targeted by people for the truth, when the radiation and poisons are killing you, when you feel hopeless and joyless, when you feel so alone as if you are the only believer and awake person alive. When the flame is dying and struggling to stay lit, remember that God alone holds you in his hand. He bottles your every tear, he sent his son to die for us sinful undeserving humans, he will come back for us, God alone knit us together in our mother’s womb, the God of the universe over all things, peoples, and nations is with you. When you feel like nobody loves you or gets you—know that the Lord our God knows all of the good and bad, and still loves you. God knows and is the only one who fully understands—when your alone in the darkness and nobody on earth except God is a witness to you and your thoughts, when you have been hurt too deep to ever heal, God holds you in his hand and knows your pain. He will comfort the mourning, and he can heal the unhealable wounds. It doesn’t mean they are forgotten, as scars remain, some scars fade with time—and some never do.
Remember this though-
“The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.” -Psalms 34:17-19, (1769 KJV)
Our light will flicker in the dark no matter how small it is—no matter the pain. It may go out at times, but will it come back, as it will always burn for the Lord. -God bless.
